I was just in on my way to work and NPR was running this story. According to Bob Murray, co-owner of Crandall Canyon mine (Grewal), the mine will be sealed and closed.
Per the SLC Tribune:
“All of the miners from Crandall Canyon have been transferred to the Tower and West Ridge mines in Carbon County. Both are operated by Murray Energy.”
It’s “unacceptable, because fatality-by-fatality reviews show that most of these deaths could have been prevented by a combination of systematic risk assessment, conscientious mine management, diligent regulatory enforcement, and adoption of technologies that are taken for granted elsewhere.“
