No – I Haven’t Forgotten About MSHA

. . . . . nor have I forgotten about Miner Bob, Crandall Canyon OR the fact that Richard Stickler’s ‘interim appointment’ as Assistant Secretary is due to end soon. December 31, 2007.

I think Sen. Robert Byrd is the man to whom Mr. Sticker might speak -again. Sen. Byrd, as we’ve known, and as he reiterated in the hearings earlier this month, has placed a hold on full appointment.

But keep checking back…..

…..in the meantime, why don’t you work on this:

Convinced the federal inspectors are failing in their mission to check on West Virginia coal mines, Rep. Nick Rahall called Wednesday on the Mine Safety and Health Administration to give a full accounting in the wake of two recent fatal accidents.

Rahall, who chairs the House Natural Resources Committee, issued his call after mining deaths occurred at the Bronzite Mine in Mingo County and Mountaineer II Mine in Logan County, both of them within his 3rd District.

West Virginia has had five mining fatalities this year and some are just sick and tired of reading & hearing about with ‘nothing’ being done.
