Love these stories, Beowulf, Sir Gawain & the Green Knight, The Iliad, not to mention all the stuff written by Madeline L ‘Engle, Ursula K. LeGuin, Frank Herbert……. the list goes on and on.

  1. I have a funny story to tell you. My English Lit professor in college insisted, no, DEMANDED on the pain of dismissal or worse – The Dreaded F Grade – that we were to memorize Beowulf in the original Gaelic. That was all we were going to do for the entire semester.

    Although I quit the course, I am really looking forward to the movie. And, it’s NOT in Gaelic. Yeah!!!!!!!

    I can hardly wait.

  2. I got lost for crissakes…..

    I found this place last year or before The Gaelic Starover; daithi sometimes writes in Gaelic (although he hasn’t for months now) and I can only look regardless of me Irish roots.

    I fell in love with Homer in college, as well as the Harlem Renaissance.
