Another Update on Fr. Raul Covarrubias

The bishop for the Idaho diocese visited the parish in Mountain Home over this past weekend. Bishop Driscoll was there to provide the parishioners at Good Counsel an update on Fr. Covarrubias who had been placed on leave in mid-September.

“. . .. Fr. Raul, who was placed on leave in September following allegations of some form of abuse involving a member of the parish. The exact nature of those allegations have never been revealed while church officials have been conducting an internal investigation into the matter. No criminal investigation has been initiated in relation to the allegations.”

I don’t know what’s going with Fr. Covarrubias and the diocese. It’s too secretive for its own good. THAT, however, has been par for this bishop and for the church in dealing forthrightly with issues of sexuality and their priests.

The Idaho Statesman has more….
