Winning with 12%?

Sooo, I’m sitting here watching MSNBC who has just declared John McCain the projected winner with only 12% of the votes in. OK granted he has 37% of that 12%, but still! It’s 6:15 p.m. here, 8:15 p.m. in NH.

Perhaps someone can explain this to me because I’m not understanding. Is it because I’m not a gambler and don’t understand “the odds.”

  1. It has to do with exit polling, and then seeing that results from the precincts that are released essentially agree with the exit polling done in those precincts. If the exit polling is shown not to be completely out to lunch, they’ll go with that in making their projections of the winner.

Or, if you believe the progressives at Democratic Underground, maybe it’s the Rove is secretly programming all the voting machines and the KKKorporate M$M is keeping the sheeple down, which is the only way to explain why Kucinich and Ron Paul didn’t win, because all their friends support Kucinich or Ron Paul, so clearly the whole country does too.
