“The chairman got ahead of his committee.”

The above is the quote from House Majority Leader Mike Moyle, R-Star, regarding Mr. Steve Thayn’s promising committee, Family Task Force. This is more in tune with what I might say with tons of tact thrown in:

Task Force member Branden Durst, D-Boise, called the endeavor a waste of taxpayers’ money.

“Clearly, when you’ve got a task force that produces no recommendations, it’s of little value at the end of the day,” he said.

Mountain Goat has an excellent write up – “Legislature 2008 and the Do Nothing Task Force.”

One thing that apparently won’t happen this session is any legislation coming from the recommendations of the highly controversial Family Task Force interim committee led by its equally controversial chairman, Republican Representative Steven Thayn of Emmett. The charge of the task force is by now familiar and was itself controversial, “To study the magnitude of the decline of the family since 1950; the effects the decline has had on state social policies; the reasons for the decline, and ways to strengthen the family.”
