Snow in the Valley

snowtractor.jpgBeing raised in a farming community a thought that occurred to me while watching snow fall one day last week was how the translation of all this snow blanketing the Treasure Valley would mean water in the reservoirs and ultimately, water for irrigation of crops for area farmers.  And, so it is.

Idaho farmers know snow in the valley also means snow in the mountains which translates to a healthy snow pack.

A snow pack that will produce water for the hot summer months.

“Agriculture is still the foundation of Idaho’s economy and we can’t have agriculture without water,” Idaho farmer Sid Freeman said.
