“Woman is the N** of the World”

So, I’m just curious. Was David Schuster demonstrating to the other alpha dogs that he could be an alpha dog?

UPDATE: One of the ‘big dog blogs’ I check daily, more actually, is Digby’s Hullabaloo. She’s been having a helluva time, HELLUVA time with disgusting posters. I don’t disagreeable posters, but disgusting posters who write sick, vile things. Here’s an example:

She thinks she can ban me too. Nice try you stupid cunt –

Beatthebitch | 02.07.08 – 6:39 pm

Not that I’m comparing my teeny blog to Digby’s, but I’m hot-tempered enough to ban this asshole just with the utterance of that first sentence. Throw in “bitch”- it’s a done deal. Now “cunt” – I’ll find you, knock your front teeth out AND …… Well you get the picture. You wouldn’t be nor are you welcome here if that’s how anyone finds it necessary to communicate. I equate visiting someone’s blog as being invited (in an uninvited sort of way) into their home, their domain.

Nowww . . . . that said, I also know that Digby has been on MSNBC’s ass as well regarding the misogynist trio – who I’ve taken to calling the megaphoned misogynistic mouthpieces™ – bullshit from the likes of Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough, and Tucker Carlson. David Schuster was the least of our worries until I heard him stick up for Chris Matthews one morning earlier in the week when talking to Joe Scarborough.

So, as Digby denotes “Here We Go Again”

Last evening on firedoglake, Jane Hamsher put up a post about David Schuster’s comment regarding Chelsea Clinton while he was subbing for that world-class dipshit, Tucker Carlson. Jane had this to say:

It may surprise everyone but I actually wasn’t bothered by them. The phrase is ubiquitous, I use it all the time and although it is a loaded term my initial impression was that in the wake of all the truly awful sexist stuff that’s come down the pipeline from MSNBC over the course of this campaign, much of which I have personally railed about, this just didn’t fall into that category.

So she thought. Jane’s been on MSNBC’s ass about their megamouthed misogynist mouthpieces, i.e., specifically Chris Matthews – Tucker Carlson and Joe Scarborough are my own picks. Sometimes it’s easy to ignore your own misogyny. I think most women get caught in its grasp from time to time. After all, misogyny is quite well and alive in our society, our culture, and happily around the world as well.

Martin Lewis posted a column on Huffington Post late last night entitled, “Schuster Proves Lennon Right . . . .” He begins with the lyrics of a song, written by John Lennon & Yoko Ono, and then follows with his opening lines:

I don’t think David Shuster’s comments about Chelsea Clinton “being pimped out” were necessarily borne of political mendacity or Hillary-hatred.

I think they come from something far worse than that.

I think they come from the systemic misogyny in our society. Every bit as pervasive as it ever was…

Now, there’s a mouth full. The systemic misogyny in our society borne out repeatedly in the message received thorough all kinds of medium from the superficiality of advertising with it’s glazed over misogyny used to sell every fucking thing there is to sell, to the inherent misogyny of the three most prominent religions in our country, specifically, Christianity – in which two presidential candidates are using their ‘Christian’ pull to woo voters.

“When it comes to the external norms that relate to the position of men and women in society, their relationship to the outside world and to each other, the male half of the population has had little enough motivation to stand aside and analyse the accepted body of opinion at any one time. By questioning it he has and had nothing to gain and everything to lose: he would not only lose social and economic advantages, but something far more precious, a sense of his own superiority which bolsters his ego both in his public and his private life.”

Patriarchal Attitudes: Women in Society – Eva Figes

By questioning it he has had nothing to gain and everything to lose.”

That may very well be the why of John Lennon’s penning the song. He was on the journey to a place many, many men not only cannot understand, but are fearful as to the results or the damage.

  3. Just when you think these gasbags couldn’t sink any lower they prove you wrong. How is it that any of the MSM talking heads retains even the slightest credibility? KO and Bill Moyers excluded of course, but they are the exception that proves the rule.

  4. SBT!!!! I’ve been thinking about youse guyz, but I’ve been getting sidetracked!

I’m disappointed in David Schuster, really disappointed. Apparently, it’s more important to be ‘one of the boys’ than to be a good journalist. He started sinking fast with me when he defended Chris Matthews as a “big hearted guy.” I don’t care how big his fucking heart is; it’s how he treats people. Someone it doesn’t translate his supposedly having a big heart and the disdain with which he treats people, specifically women.

  5. According to the demographics, I should be voting for Hillary Clinton: I’m a white, 60-year-old, highly educated woman from the Northeast. But I’m voting for Obama. I’ve waited all my life for a viable woman candidate for the presidency, but this is not the right woman. I want a woman of the highest ability and virtue, who would serve as a glorious role model to all young women. Hillary Clinton is not that woman.
She rode into power with her husband, and together they’ve acquired a long and seriously flawed history of self-serving and secretive financial and political dealings. The most cursory research will prove that true. She started out her political life supporting the racist Barry Goldwater. She is as comfortable with deception and trickery as George Bush. When I hear woman saying, “Oh, but that’s how you get things done in Washington,” I literally cringe.
I am passionately supporting Barack Obama. He can beat the Republicans; she cannot. Obama has attracted Independents and even Republicans to his camp, and in a general election they would vote for him, but not for Clinton. Clinton voted for the war, and has never apologized for it. Obama has spoken out against it from the beginning. Obama brings us hope–and not just that. Take a serious look at his ideas and experience.
Please, I beg of you, Sisters young and old: wait for the right woman. Then we can be proud.

  6. The Clinton campaign didn’t have a healthcare plan befor it felled and they don’t have one now. Well to be honest, if everyone is a goverment employee, then the Clinton healthcare plan will work for everyone. Unfortunately some are self employed, independent contractors or work for private employors or small business. Under the Clinton healthcare plan these people would be penalized if they don’t pay for their healthcare. This means that most of your family members and friends will have their paychecks garnished. We all know that it doesn’t stop there if it is a goverment enforcement. There will be fines and then misdemeanors which is a criminal offense defined as less serious than a felony. Why did Ms. Clinton decide on this approach? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out. Big business, big Corporation call it what you will, they want their money back and in order for Ms. Clinton to get their support in her race to presidency she is giving victory to one side (the healthcare providers) by promising to them that she will have the poeople wages garnished if they continue to give healthcare. Thus allowing her to shout the words “UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE” This is a shady tactic and makes fools out of every american that falls for this trick. The Obama healthcare plan is for the people. Poor people, middle class and rich people can rest assured that there is no tricks or penalties in the Obama healthcare plan. VOTE OBAMA!!

  7. I am getting sick and tired of the naked racism and sexism of the main stream media hurled at Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton in the name of making the news exciting. Whichever one wins, I am voting for that person in November.
