Sudan, Divesting, and Idaho

What the ….???

If we look at what damages our society here and our children, alcohol, drugs, the tobacco industry…” he said. “I see equal justification for a lot of those issues in divesting, but if we go down that road, I don’t know where we stop.”mckenzie12.jpg  (Curt McKenzie)

That frickin’ idiot over there is Curt McKenzie, R-Nampa, who “cast the tie-breaking vote” following the deadlock which the Senate State Affairs Committee found itself confronted.  McKenzie is the chairman of said committee.

The bill in question: SB 1367,

“the bill to divest state retirement fund assets from companies doing business with Sudan because of the genocide in the Darfur region.”

You don’t where we stop?!  How about we GET STARTED!  Rape used as a weapon, murder and slaughter of the inhabitants of a village with everything burned to the ground, and YOU don’t know . . . . .?   It’s pretty obvious this is a man who lacks even the rudimentary base necessary for employing common sense.

It’s been suggested that those who are covered by PERSI can opt out.  Will there be an opportunity clause then?  Sounds like it’s time for an education campaign.

  1. I heard rumblings of this yesterday. Quite a disappointment. When Idaho Republicans can’t even agree with George W. Bush on an issue like this, you know they’ve gone off the deep end.

So who is challenging Curt McKenzie this year?

  2. I dunno know…..maybe our own Mountain Goat!

  3. These guys can do shit like that and turn around and run on a holier than thou, we’re more moral platform? It boggles the mind.

  4. And that’s exactly it, Dave. This guy is right from that arena and that area out there….wingnutville.
