First up – Danica Patrick. I don’t follow racing. I do keep loose track of Danica Patrick – um, because I drive fast just about everywhere I go. It’s that simple? No, she’s a woman in a predominantly man’s field.
AMERICAN Danica Patrick has become the first woman to win a major international motor race, with victory in the Indycar race at Japan’s Twin Ring Motegi circuit yesterday.
Harry Potter fans will get a look-see at Daniel Radcliffe in another acting ‘genre.’ Radcliffe is a member of the cast of ‘My Boy Jack’ – Rudyard Kipling’s story of his own son’s adventure during World War I. It’s on PBS tonight, Masterpiece Theater. Tonight at 9:00 p.m. Gearing up the TiVO.
Elliott at firedoglake has an amazing rundown of the talking heads this Sunday, including ’60 Minutes’ and C-SPAN. A book I’m currently reading (skimming deeply) is on C-SPAN’s Book TV this weekend. Superclass: The Global Power Elite and the World They Are Making, by David Rothkopf .
Also of note is a program that illustrates the work of Erika Falk, whose book – Women for President: Media Bias in Eight Campaigns‘ divulges that:
‘the media has demonstrated gender bias in covering women candidates since the first woman ran for president of the United States in 1872. She examines the campaigns of eight women who have run for president through 2004 and compares them with the campaigns of their male opponents.‘
You can watch that program here.
I think Pope Benedict is moving in! Christ ‘o Friday – what the hell – going around talking about purifying the church, BUT . . . . on that note, check out the Buddhist ‘Thought of the Day’:
On that note, here is video of a Faux Fox News “reporter” being so TOTALLY owned by Fr. Michael Pfleger, who is pastor of St. Sabina’s church in Chicago. Any Catholic who has been to Mass in a ‘Black church’ knows what “celebrating Mass” really means. Educated and articulate is so underrated, doncha think?!
