So Walt Minnick wants to challenge Bill Sali to “10 unmoderated town hall meetings across the district this summer so the two candidates can take questions from the public.”
That’s fine. Sounds like a good idea to me. Democracy in action. The candidates meeting with the public.
Sali’s spokesman, Wayne Hoffman, said Sali has had numerous town hall meetings since last year and will host more.
I don’t know about you but that’s sounds a tad defensive on Mr. Hoffman’s part. There’s nothing either in Walt’s press statement or the email sent to Sali’s campaign to suggest Sali had not met with nor was not open to meeting with Idahoans. Although that was the question posed at the Idaho Stateman site: “Numerous town hall meetings? Really? Anyone hear of any? Anyone been to any?” with another wondering about the “private invitation telephone conferences” sponsored by Sali’s office. On Sali’s website I did find at least one video of a townhall meeting in Kamiah earlier this year in March.
