Did You Hear The One About 2 Million Blacks?

(Update below)

Chris at ‘the unequivocal notion‘ has yet another email from an idiotic ReThuglican (this time in Florida)  apparently in relation to the ‘state of the black population’ that’s meant as joke.  He’s curious to see if that same email would be making “the rounds” on our state, county or city office email systems.  Oh now…just ‘cuz a few idiots did at one time doesn’t mean other idiots will follow.

The email itself is just downright idiotic, however the comments at the newpaper’s site that are just mind-boggling.

UPDATE:  Wonkette has one helluva post.  Go read it.

White Racism – OK, We’re Even Now

Dollars and Sense is an online publication (“economic news and analysis, reports on economic justice activism“) that I usually check daily.    Barry Deutsch, is a cartoonist who lives in Portland, Oregon, has his own web site,  Alas! “Senate committee today abruptly canceled a session to consider President Obama’s nomination of Rep. Hilda Solis to be labor secretary in the wake of a report saying that her husband yesterday paid about $6,400 to settle tax liens against his business — including liens that had been outstanding for as long as 16 years.” Continue reading

Special Olympics – Torch

So the Olympic torch arrived in Boise late yesterday afternoon having made its way from Athens, Greece.  It’s impressive.

KIVI has video of the torch arriving at City Hall, by way of the Boise Depot.   Special Olympics 2009 main page with the event schedule here; it’s a PDF.  Opening ceremonies are Saturday, 2:00 pm, at the Idaho Center.

An interesting aside is this tiny story of the “behind the scenes”  of the Special Olympics was this story. Continue reading
