Democratic Underground’s news page had the breaking news of Dr. George Tiller’s murder in Wichita, Kansas – while at church nonetheless – early Sunday. I saw it online almost immediately. However being at work there was not a way to catch cable news like I wanted to see what, if anything, was transpiring. For some reason I was stunned that it would occur in church. However when someone apparently is deluded into thinking they are eliminating ‘evil’ – nothing is sacred even to those so-called ‘pro-lifers.’
Thinking there may be ‘a logical explanation’ I wondered what could be going on that would bring this assassination about now – why now? What could have played a role in this happening now. I found a couple of interesting happenings in the past few months that might provide something.
After years of investigations and four days of testimony, jurors here took just 45 minutes on Friday to acquit a controversial abortion doctor of charges that he performed 19 illegal late-term abortions in 2003. Kansas law permits late-term abortions when two independent doctors agree that the pregnant woman would be irreparably harmed by giving birth.
Dr. Tiller’s clinic is one of three in the United States that perform late-term abortions, and he has been reviled by anti-abortion forces for decades.
Then there was this – shortly before coming Secretary of Health & Human Services…
TOPEKA, Kan. – Gov. Kathleen Sebelius vetoed a bill Thursday that would have rewritten Kansas’ restrictions on late-term abortions, perhaps complicating her effort to win confirmation as U. S. health and human services secretary.
Sebelius questioned whether the bill was constitutional and suggested it would cause “intimidation” of doctors.
Just try as they might to define the women who seek abortions, the so-called ‘right-to-lifers’ – outside of being nothing of the sort – allow for no exceptions, regardless of the circumstances. They just so want to interject themselves into other’s lives and other’s decisions as being their “God-given right” based upon their religious beliefs. It is not so and it is not their place.
And you just knew these jackasses would show up sooner more so than later.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — About 10 anti-abortion protesters gathered across the street from a downtown Wichita vigil where supporters of George Tiller remembered the slain abortion provider.
The protesters outside Sunday’s vigil were from Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, which also pickets military funerals. The protesters held signs emblazoned with such messages as “Abortion is bloody murder” and “Baby killer in hell.”
The protesters and about 20 Tiller supporters shouted at each other. A large number of police officers stood by to make sure the scene stayed under control.
There was this screen catch of the headline at Huffington Post when Attorney General issued an order of protection using the service of the U.S. marshals sometime later at Huffington.

Roeder, a sovereign citizen and tax protester, violated his parole by not filing tax returns or providing his social security number to his employer.” What a guy.
