Being Eaten Alive by Hate

After being exposed to the likes of Zeb Bell, it is quite startling to actually ‘see’ such hatred in action as has been so in the forefront of the news cycle over the past weeks, specifically the last two weeks.

The bottom line for me: These are people who cannot stomach the idea of a black man as president regardless of the overwhelming response that brought out people in electing that man.  Thus, you have men like James W. von Brunn, who are indeed consumed with such hatred that even at the age of 88 or 89 he would enter a museum in the middle of the day armed with a rifle – to make what point?

He was a twisted kook with a toxic hatred for Jews and blacks who vowed to go out “with his boots on.”‘

“I’m in a state of shock, but I’m not surprised he did it,” von Brunn’s ex-wife told the Daily News. “He used to make the statement that he was going out with his boots on. I took it to mean that he was going to go out and try to take some people with him.”

More recently, the former New Yorker questioned the legitimacy of President Obama’s birth certificate in online screeds.

It was unclear if something specific triggered his museum rampage – but the attack followed Obama’s denunciation of Holocaust deniers.

Public records briefly listed von Brunn at an address in Hayden, Idaho, where the Aryan Nations once had a compound.

The Southern Poverty Law Center said it monitored him closely but that in the twilight of his life, von Brunn appeared to be more talk than action.

Mr. von Brunn hanging out with the Aryan Nations in northern Idaho should provide a sharper perspective into his mindset.  He had a website: holywesternempire.com

The Liberal Curmudgeon has up thoughts from April 4, 2009 following the release of the report from DHS and their concern of and the ‘rise in rightwing extremist activity’ and the backlash directed at director Janet Neapolitano.  There is video of Joe Scarborough blasting the report for ‘focusing on veterans’ with their typical distortions and prevarications.

The Department of Homeland Security is warning law enforcement officials about a rise in “rightwing extremist activity,” saying the economic recession, the election of America’s first black president and the return of a few disgruntled war veterans could swell the ranks of white-power militias.

…”It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single-issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration,” the warning says.

The bottom line – Mr. von Brunn may be celebrated in a few quarters consumed by hatred,  notwithstanding – HE IS A TERRORIST.   Domestic to be sure, but STILL a domestic terrorist.  No less than Mr. Roeder

  1. I just can’t wrap my head around how conservatives and the far right define terrorism. How is what happened yesterday and to Dr. Tiller any less terrorist?

  2. It’s not.

IF someone on the left – regardless of the impetus makes it their life’s work to hound a certain group of people for what they believe, obstructed their means to perform ‘their job’, picket at their homes, places of worship or workplaces, send hate mail via the postal service or email, make threatening phone calls, and perhaps kill someone every once in awhile – IT’S TERRORISM.

Oh – not to mention published articles and ‘books’ on the subject that what they’ve experienced is bullshit.
