All alone….

This little sweet face made me cry.

Can you imagine being 6 and caught up in this mess – alone.  This little one was ferried via helicopter from Port-au-Prince the USS Vinson to the USNS Comfort who is still steaming towards Haiti.  It should be ‘there’ tomorrow (Wed), no later than Thursday morning.

The boy knows his father’s cell phone number, but not what happened to him, his mother or his brother. “He was scared and was reaching for my hand,” Safford said. “Just holding a kid’s hand is sometimes the best medicine.”

The 6-year-old patient has a crushed pelvis and possible damage to his bladder and urethra.

The USNS Comfort has a Twitter account, and recently developed a Facebook page.

Update: Here’s a bit more.  His name is Lionel.

Update-1: Checking up on Lionel again and found this.

He was about to spell his name for me and he was about to tell me his birthday, and also he gave me his father’s phone number,” said Henry. “He was about to tell me that he had one brother who is older than him.  So he was very helpful.”

Lionel arrived without any adult escort, raising concern that he might be an orphan or separated from his family. But the staff now has a contact number to try to track down a parent, and Henry is just one of the people ready to care for the child on the Comfort.

“I’m about to go to ICU because that’s where he is right now to see how he is doing. I know he was sleeping,” said Henry. “He told me he was not in any pain at all, he was just sleepy.  And he wanted some water.”

  1. I feel so sorry for that little boy.

Too bad it was – more than likely – our government that precipitated the event

Draw your own conclusions, I’ve made mine.

    To quote Jump – Fuckers

  2. Okay – so you’re saying or Alex Jones is saying they agree with Hugo Chavez?

What that means then is that president would know and is okay with it?

  3. I guess what I am saying is that we, the US, have a capability to do things like this and, IMHO, probably have already used it, quite possibly a few times.

Remember when the Chinese were trading barbs with the US early last summer? What happened in May 2009, bam, 7.9 earthquake. No more barb slinging. hmmmmmm

Now, do I think our fearless leader (traitor) is aware of it? My guts want me to say that he doesn’t, but, that said, strange things happen to people when they get inside of the beltway. As we both know, he hasn’t exactly done what he said he was going to do.

A wise man once told me “we learn about people thru their actions”.

I understand about the U.S. having the capability “do thiings” – somehow I’ve always thought the weather not under our purview or control.

  5. Yeah, the weather is one thing, and I can get my head around weather manupilation (a little bit here and a little bit there), but tectonic movements….woohooo. Far Out.
