What’s It Take to Be Recognized as a Magic Negro?

magician

Why be on Fox News of course.  Who else would have the cojones to actually air anything like that?

Think Progress has video with link to a screen catch from a show on Fox News in which viewer-sent messages celebrating New Years crawled across the screen.  One such message was this:

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND LET’S HOPE THE MAGIC NEGRO DOES A GOOD JOB. LOVE JEN AND JOHN C.

A considerable time ago in doing research and reading related to abortion, I remember reading somewhere that the abortion debate was the offshoot of racism as it became increasingly unacceptable to display public bigotry.

The recent dust up about the RNC shill, Mr. Saltsman, who sent out copies of a CD with an alleged parody of ‘Puff The Magic Dragon’ doubling as the track for an apparent new racist release, ‘Barack, The Magic Negro.’

There’s not much to say about a fucking idiot like this.  It’s pretty obvious the intent.  I’ve been around long enough to know this is an “end-round.”  There are those, some with whom I work, who will not say ‘black’ or even ‘African-American’ because they consider it as part-‘n-parcel of political correctness gone awry.  So rather than say “n*gger” or even “n*gga” – which is want they want to say – to be “nice” they’ll use ‘colored’ or ‘Negro’ and expect you to be understanding. This is what’s called a ‘thinly veiled attempt’ to gloss over whatever subtlety there is in racism, and as far as I’m concerned, especially when used by white men – and these specific white men.

Parody is Blazing Saddles, which does it for westerns.  This fucking video – it isn’t parody. It’s a bunch of losers who cannot accept the fact that this election, and in no small part, Barack Obama, has energized people across the country and perhaps, just perhaps, the return of this country to her when it comes to ethics, justice, and freedom – a return to roots with a healthy dose of liberalism.

Goings On Around My Blogosphere

A new place I’ve been reading, Womanist Musings, has some thoughts on Michelle Obama’s role in the upcoming administration.

Robert Reich has a blog on economics I check at least weekly and he wrote a bit of an intro of John Maynard Keynes, allegedly the opposite of Milton Friedman in relation to economic theory.  This is supposed to be simple, but it leaves my mind reeling.

Keynes’ basic idea was simple. In order to keep people fully employed, governments have to run deficits when the economy is slowing. That’s because the private sector won’t invest enough. As their markets become saturated, businesses reduce their investments, setting in motion a dangerous cycle: less investment, fewer jobs, less consumption and even less reason for business to invest. The economy may reach perfect balance, but at a cost of high unemployment and social misery. Better for governments to avoid the pain in the first place by taking up the slack.

And for the largest load of bullshit thus far today –here at DD via David Gergen, continuing the mime of ‘center-right nation.’ Continue reading

Sooo..We R in a Recession

Just received ‘Breaking News’ from CNN. The country has been in a recession since December of 2007. Really? Someone best alert that fuckwad Saxby Chambliss (ReThug-GA) who said in one campaign speech, “I don’t know what that word means.”

The committee identified December 2007 as the peak month, after determining that the subsequent decline in economic activity was large enough to qualify as a recession.

Blue Texan at firedoglake posted video of Chambliss on Fox News in an interview wtih Chris Wallace discussing his ‘i dunno nuthin bout no recession’ comment’ over the summer while campaigning.  Chambliss makes the case that if Jim Martin (D) wins this race, we’ll be that much closer to Marxism. It’s not so much about Jim Martin as it is about Barack Obama with Chambliss.

Let’s go to the video:

Regardless of the teeny smoke screens thrown up, Chambliss can’t dig himself out while Chris Wallace is almost acting like a journalist.  BT at firedoglake has video of most of the interview if interested.

Bill Sali, And the Fire in Garden City

Nahh…they’re not related.

firemanDriving around town I noticed thick, thick black smoke coming from Garden City.  Since I live off Cole and Northview, I have to go through Garden City, ya know.  Specifically down Veteran’s Parkway to Adams Street.  I figured it was probably a training exercise but it was causing quite the commotion.

BOISE – Boise Fire Department crews are conducting a training exercise in Garden City that’s grabbing attention in the area.

The test fire sent a thick black plume of smoke into the air in the area of 42nd St. and Adams St.  The smoke could be seen throughout the area.

Police were called into close a portion of the roads and help control traffic.

In other more welcome news, Bill (Yes, I am a dumb fuck) Sali finally conceded to Walt Minnick. I just cannot believe 49.4% of Idaho’s first congressional district still voted for this jackass.

The race was close, with a 4,243-vote margin, but it wasn’t within the one-tenth of 1 percent needed to trigger an automatic recount.

I wouldn’t define 4243 vote separation as close.  I still remember the Stallings election where he won by less than 200 votes (197 or something) over George Hansen.

In 1984, after Hansen was censured by the House of Representatives for various ethics violations, Stallings defeated him in a hotly contested race by fewer than 200 votes.

That was a nailbiter.  OR in this election cycle – In the Oregon race between Gordon Smith (R) and Jeff Merkely (D); the race between Al Franken (D) & Norm Coleman (R) in Minnesota; Ted Stevens (R) vs “Democrat and Anchorage Mayor Mark Bergrich” in Alaska.

See Ya, George

Some rabid leftists were out in front of the White House last night after Obama’s victory serenading George.

MINNICK DEFEATS SALI!!!

YA-FUCKING-HOO!!!!

Breaking News: Minnick defeats Sali in 1st Congressional District‏

Just saw this via the Idaho Statesman….

Not a Rahm Emanuel Fan

Great scott….

Howard Fineman just said on MSNBC that Rahm Emanuel was called about being Obama’s chief of staff and he accepted.  Howard said he got that scoop from Josh Marshall.  Don’t see anything from Josh yet, but I did see this.  Well, we’ll see. Off to bed.  I’m still happy – and relieved.

In My Tiny World

In my district where I live, 16 – 92% of precincts are reporting in and this seems to be – my district remains Democratic

60% Grant Burgoyne (4282 votes)

40% Joan Cloonan (2890 votes)

In the second seat for the House:

60% Elfreda Higgins (4313 votes)

40% Elizabeth Hodge (2884 votes)

The Senate seat up for grabs:

61% Les Bock (4466 votes)

39% Christ Troupis (2871 votes)* (*Troupis was the attorney for those theocrats hanging with Brandy Swindell, late of 2008 Olympics fame.)

Whereas, I reside in Congressional District #2 where Jim Risch and Larry LaRocco were running for Larry Craig’s seat.

57% Jim Risch (R) ~ (163195 votes)

35% Larry LaRocco (D) ~ (101525 votes)

6% Rex Rammell (16330 votes)

1% Kent Marmon (4223 votes)

1% Pro-Life (3352 votes)

House representative for CD #2 – 55% of precincts reporting, it’s apparent Mike Simpson kept his seat in the U.S. House.

71% Mike Simpson (R) (108389 votes) = incumbent

29% Deborah Holmes (D) (45301 votes)

The race that I’m really watching however is the one between Walt Minnick and Bill -I’m a Freakin’ Nutcase – Sali.  (US RD#1).  There are only 34% of precincts thus far reporting in, and I just heard Jill Kuraitis report to a KIVI reporter that Canyon County ballots haven’t yet been counted for this seat.  Oh dear….

52% Walt Minnick (68328 votes)

48% Bill Sali (63841 votes)

We DID IT!

Barack Obama elected 44th president

Illinois senator to become first African-American leader in U.S. history

Some waited a helluva long time, too.

And I, I cannot tell you how relieved I am that we do not have to worry about the likes of Sarah Palin and her theocratic ties any longer or John McCain’s further war-mongering moves.

In His Own Words – Economics?

Ohoo. I like this one.   (And brazenly swiped from Susie Madrak at Suburban Guerrilla.)
