Put the Rabid Scarecrow Back on The POLE!

He could wile away the hours

Conferrin’ with the flowers

Consultin’ with the rain

And his head he’d be scratchin’

While his thoughts were busy hatchin’

If he only had a brain

“Being Molded Into Militias?”

On April 4th, Richard Poplawski hunkered down in his home in Pittsburgh, shot and killed three police officers responding to a ‘domestic call’ of some kind. Poplawski’s spree was just the latest in a rash of incidents involving guns invoking confusion and dismay.

The Washington Post then attempted to make sense out of all it, asking if there was a link between the downing of the economy with all the recent killings.

The factor underlying the violence, some experts think, is the dismal state of the nation’s economy. Criminologists theorize that the epidemic of layoffs, the meltdown of storied American corporations and the uncertainty of recovery have stoked fear, anxiety and desperation across society and unnerved its most vulnerable and dangerous.

However – the day of Poplawski’s rampage was transpiring I was flipping through the channels and caught this on Fox News.  I hesitated just long enough to hear all the gunfire so I stopped. What I actually saw was the few minute or so of Clip #1 together with the Video #2 below wherein Fox News is talking to and interviewing a neighbor of Mr. Poplawski in Pittsburgh, who does not sound like a Fox News viewer. Confusing Tyranny with Losing

You see this headline below; it’s one of the many at Red State, and it’s one of the many reasons, I find these people despicable and traitorous.

Apparently, it’s A-OK when they’re on the winning end, eh?

If I may.  A reminder from Jon Stewart: “Disagreeing with the president you didn’t vote for is not fascism. You’re in the minority. It’s supposed to taste like a shit taco!”  Pace. Your. Rage!

“Fair and balanced” Fox News aggressively promotes Tea Party

teaparty-tee

Despite its repeated insistence that its coverage is “fair and balanced” and its invitation to viewers to “say ‘no’ to biased media,” Fox News has frequently aired segments encouraging viewers to get involved with “tea party” protests across the country. Media Matters has compiled an analysis of Fox News’ promotion of these events.

Update:  I saw this news item last night and this morning ran across a bit of a compilation on Media Matters of Fox News laying claim to ‘Tea Party.’

During the April 9 edition of Your World, for at least the second time in three days, Fox News aired on-screen text describing April 15 “tea party” protests that Fox News hosts will be attending as “FNC Tax Day Tea Parties.” Fox News has often described those protests primarily as a response to President Obama’s fiscal policies. While airing the text, host Neil Cavuto stated that “we are genuine about being all over the country” at the protests, adding that “we think if you folks are making a big deal of it, you know what? It’s a big deal, because you folks are a bigger deal.” Beck added: “We picked the Alamo for a reason. Stand. Stand.”

News Hounds also is on it, citing Neil Cavuto’s program.  An interesting point of fact is made as well….

Neil Cavuto has been defending FOX News’ coverage of the upcoming tax day tea parties by repeatedly suggesting that FOX News gave similar coverage to the Million Man March. But the Million Man March occurredwas not operating until October 7, 1996, nearly a year later. October 16, 1995 whereas FOX News.

side-noteAs an interesting side note, this diary was at Daily Kos in early April regarding the language used at the Fox News Network.  Flak Kaserne was the military installation for the hospital while I was in Augsburg, Germany.  Our radiology clerk was a man named Georg who had also done “his duty” as a youngster in Germany.  At the time I was there, he was 45.  Dachua was some 55 km (40 miles) from Augsburg.  The town of Dachua is like a side trip while on the way to Munich.  It was at one time a walled market city made infamous for the concentration camp.

And for FUN….here’s video from Americablog featuring the ladies from ‘Sex in the City’ on teabaggin’

White Wing Media

white_winged_doves21So yesterday, Mountain Goat throws out this teaser about southern Idaho’s hate speech monger.  Truthfully, I don’t know what I thought would be up.  Just something more outlandish than ‘the last thing.’

Welll – now it seems Mr. Zebell has come into the blogging fold after all the tantrums and lippiness about the evilness of blogging and some specific bloggers who are nothing more than “scurrying little rats” for whom he “feels pity for” – and, I think, the best line of all – casting them off like “a pair of dirty socks.”  Tsk, tsk.

Thus, Mr. Zeb’s Rebs are now a more tangible threat.  As Mountain Goat pans out below the curious nature of the moniker, there’s also the contributors – one seemingly ‘regular’ a “who’s who” promoting white nationalism.  One Frosty Wooldridge who has served as guest host on Zeb‘s show.  As MG points, out Mr. Woolridge is described as a Nativist by the Southern Poverty Law Center.  A more in-depth explanation is at the Mountain Goat Report and of course, the SPLC.

Looking at the others listed as contributors on his blog, that becomes even more apparent.  Iron Yak, a Mormon housewife with eleven kids from Burley, describes herselfher blog, alongside a sketch of Jesus Christ, you’ll find [the cartoon below], making the email sent by Canyon County Commissioner Steve Rule last December, mild in comparison. as a writer/artist and is apparently a political cartoonist.  Her artistic talents far exceed her good taste and human decency, however.

Following this, I took a look.  Continue reading
